Budget Tips

wedding-scrap-book:

“Figure out how much you can realistically spend and always know that number. Your wedding will be wonderful even if you can’t get the farm-to-table plated catering or the hand-beaded couture dress. Don’t compromise your finances or your real life for your fairytale day. Because really, while it’s wonderful and it’s yours, it’s just one day.”

Such great advice!

What great advice

Beautiful photo of bridesmaids’ dresses in several colors!Sustainable wedding tip: Chose a dress style and let your bridesmaids pick a color that flatters them to increase the chance that they will wear it again.Or, have bridesmaids shop their own closets for dresses in a specific color family that goes with you wedding theme. Have them over with their dresses do you can see what everyone will look like together. (Serve cocktails and a tasty meal for bridal bonus points)

I got mail from my college today: commencement is May 11…also known as our wedding day.

My mom thought it was the neatest thing and immediately gushed: “Wouldn’t that be neat to do both in the same day?”

My rational brain says probably it isn’t a good idea to plan anything for the day of the wedding, but there is a part of me that keeps saying “Why not?”

Ok, I know it sounds crazy but I keep thinking that if it is a morning commencement then maybe I would be out in time to get my hair and make-up done before the photographer gets to my parents’ house. Of course, I don’t yet know what time commencement is so I would have to find out.

I ran it by my darling fiancé and he chuckled softly before saying “If it makes you happy.”

I know it is pretty insane and I should probably plan to relax the morning of the wedding (is that possible?) but I am going to at least investigate this. It can’t hurt, right?

The most ironic part of this all is that I vividly remember asking if anyone was graduating college this year because Mother’s Day weekend is a popular graduation time. I just forgot me!

Eco Wedding Dress Option: Etsy

I just discovered that Etsy has wedding dresses! I already have mine, but thought I’d share for those of you still looking for an eco-friendly or vintage option. They sort by vintage, handmade, reception, and alternative, but don’t appear to give the option to narrow by size. If you have time and are patient, you could get an absolutely beautiful gown that’s eco-friendly and possibly less expensive than your average gown.
